John and the others come to pick up Ronon and Teyla.
SHEPPARD (offscreen): That smells great.
(Teyla and Ronon turn back in surprise as John, Elizabeth, Carson and Rodney walk out of the trees, smiling at them.)
SHEPPARD: Hope you saved some for us.
TEYLA: John! It’s wonderful to see you…all of you!
WEIR: And you.
SHEPPARD (pointing to the pot): We missed that…whatever that is.
(Ronon looks at the four of them closely.)
DEX: Something’s wrong.
(Teyla looks at Ronon then looks back to the team)
“Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum were big hits on DVD when the original movies debuted in 2008 … so what’s the hold-up, MGM? With 2009 rapidly passing by, the studio has yet to begin production on the third SG-1 movie and the first Atlantis movie.
Executive producer Robert C. Cooper recently told SciFi Wire just why there is a delay, echoing what he and fellow executive producer Brad Wright told GateWorld in April (interview).
“We’re ready to go,” he told the site. “We’re just waiting for the right opportunity. We want to be successful with it. The studio wants to be successful, and we really don’t want to proceed with something in the wrong climate, which I think financially it is right now.”
“We were very successful with the first two SG-1 movies,” Cooper added. “Since then, the economics have changed a little bit. DVDs aren’t selling the same way they were when we released those even just a year, and a year and a half ago.”
Meanwhile, the Atlantis set is still standing (and costing MGM rent) — a good sign that the studio plans to film the movie, eventually. The S.G.C. set was recently converted for use in the Stargate Universe premiere, and there are rumors that the real-world closing of Cheyenne Mountain may result in a relocation of the SG-1’s home base in a future film.
Wright said in April that the SG-1 movie had received a green light from the studio and would almost certainly film before the year is out (story). Whether MGM is still planning that schedule remains to be seen. The script is complete, penned by Wright and Carl Binder.
The Atlantis movie script has also been written, by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, and is still waiting for the go-ahead. Its working title is Stargate: Extinction.
Cooper said that the Atlantis film takes place shortly after the end of the final episode of the television series, while the SG-1 movie (which will feature Richard Dean Anderson as Jack O’Neill) takes place sometime in the period between Continuum and the start of Stargate Universe.”
It seems there is a movie for Stargate Atlantis in the works called Stargate:Extinction based on what the IMDB has posted. Hopefully more information will come to as to what the plot is about. So Stay tuned for more as it comes….

I have some sad news to bring to those who might not know, over at gateworld forum a wonderful guy who guys by the screenname Wraithlord(Chris) had died. A member of the board messaged him to see if everything was ok but his dear friend replied instead with sad news.
“my name is Claire, I’m one of Chris’s Real Life friends, I just read your message, I don’t know how to break this to you….he died a few weeks ago.
He was in a Car with another friend of his named David who was driving him back home from a ‘Guys night out’ from what I’ve been told they’re Car skidded and crashed into a wall…they both died instantly.”
He was the nicest guy who posted so much of Stargate News for everyone to know about. He did so much and never asked for anything in return but wonderful comments. My heart and prayer goes out to his family who lost a wonderful guy. If you are a member on Gateworld please check out this thread made in his loving memory.
The cast of Stargate Atlantis made a heartfelt goodbye video which is posted on SPACECAST.com. The only one that wasn’t there was Jason. Joe Flanigan, Rachel Luttrell, David Hewlett, Robert Piccardo, Paul McGillion, Amanda Tapping, Brad Wright, and Joseph Mallozzi all said there farewells and the fact they are sadden by the cancellation of the show But remember they will go Direct to DVD’s soon and maybe more of that to come in the future.
The vidoe os posted on the Spacecast.com site and I will post the Joe part and Rachel parts of their goodbye speech soon to the media vault.
Gateworld.net reported from a source that season 5 will be the last. But it’s reported that the show will turn into Direct to DVD movies after the series finally airs. To learn more head on over to Gateworld.net for more on what’s to come for the show.
I posted tons of new stills for The Shrine and the two part episode First Contact which will air before the show goes on a short hiatus. I also found a Comic Con08 interview that talks about the cast and mentions Joe.
We first spoke with Joe Flanigan (Lt. Colonel John Sheppard) who started things off by asking about the device I was recording with, my Creative Zen (look for my review of the Zen soon). He’s into gadgets and thought it was pretty cool. I asked him what he thought of the con, but he said that he just got there and was told he wasn’t allowed to go to the floor, but if he did he would buy out his own action figures. He recently received two boxes of his own action figure and one of the most satisfying things in his career so far has been to send his action figure to his friends and god-daughters. He joked that is what everyone gets from him for Christmas. “I can’t think of a more beautifully self-involved gift then to send someone your own action figure.”
The Futon Critic website has announced that the Sci Fi Channel has confirmed that they will be running Stargate Atlantis all the way through the fall without a long mid-season break. This news has come as no surprise for fans who keep up with Alex Levine and Joseph Mallozzi in their blogs, but no official announcement from the channel, which is known for changing their schedule on the fly, was given until now.
According to the Critic’s “breaking news” announcement, Atlantis will be moved to the 9pm slot when it returns with its 11th episode, “The Lost Tribe”, on October 10 and will be the lead-in to Amanda Tapping’s Sanctuary, which will make its debut the week before (October 3) with a two-hour pilot (starting at 9pm).
The Futon Critic’s reported schedule is as follows (note that the next episode of Atlantis, “Ghost in the Machine”, is not due to air until August 15):
